[DLC MUN] Diplomatic Leaders Conference MUN 2024

On March 30, 2024 and March 31,2024 Blogery held it’s first ever MUN Conference – the Diplomatic Leaders Conference. The Diplomatic Leaders Conference aimed to showcase and provide a platform for young leaders to express their diplomatic ability alongside developing many other skills with public speaking and critical thinking.

Unlocking youth’s voice to enabling young leaders to show case their extraordinary diplomacy skills and encouraging exhaustive discussions on alarming topics. The topics were carefully chosen to let the delegates widen their thinking capabilities and explore the latest happenings in the world.  The MUN had ground breaking debates and discussion on several topics which require youth attention and opinions-
(UNCYA) Youth centric topic:  “Addressing excessive social media usage by today’s youth”
(UNHRC)A major issue faced these days round the globe which might lead to global crisis and requires tomorrow’s leaders’ opinion is required to delve deeper and figure out cause and next major steps “Illegal Migrations and Asylums” 
(UNCSW)Women empowerment related topic which encourages opinion of the youth and solutions to combat the issue: “Women’s right to expression: Special emphasis on hijab controversy in Iran and India”

The MUN was a wholesome experience, it not only had the moderated caucuses and resolutions but also had various crisis sessions, challenges, guest delegations and at the end anonymous chit session which made it even more fun!

This conference was led by a team of highly experienced MUN experts, chairing the committees and helping in the overall running of the conference. We’d like to thank all of the members in the image below for dedicating their time to the conference and being part of the success of the conference.

The conference was made up of 3 different committees, each discussing -world events, finding, delegating and finding a common solution to problems which have arisen in our society. The conference had various awards for each committee, ranging from best delegate to outstanding delegates alongside special and verbal mentions for the top performing delegates in each committee.

The Commission of Youth Affairs, chaired by S. Jaresvar discussed the effects of social media on public viewpoints (specifically on youth). The United States of America- Rithika was awarded with the best delegate award in this committee with Russia- Arnav Rai winning the outstanding delegate award with North Korea- Suryansh and India- Bhuvi Bansal winning a special mention and verbal mention respectively.

The United Nations Human Rights Council, chaired by Saanvi Duggal and Divya Chauhan discussed issues regarding illegal migration and asylum. Germany -Subhashree emerged on top as the best delegate in this committee, alongside the United Kingdom- Suryashish being awarded the outstanding delegate award. The delegate of Peru- Francesca Romero received the special mention in this committee and the delegates of Kazakhstan and Pakistan- Harshit Sharma both received verbal mentions for their performance.

Lastly, the Commission on the Status of Women, chaired by Vansh Tyagi and Kashika Jain discussed topics regarding women’s right to expression with an emphasis on the hijab controversy in Iran and India. The delegate of the Netherlands- Yashwariya emerged as the best delegate, with Egypt- Pratham Raj being awarded the outstanding delegate award and finally the delegate of India- Nandita Kumar receiving the special mention for the commission.

We appreciate all of the intriguing and critical discussions and issues brought up by all the delegates as well as the insightful debates throughout the conference.
