Nowadays, children are spending their most precious daily time on social media. At their age of study they participate in fight about their caste, community, etc. They are following people who tell them how to earn money without studying. The main reason is their curiosity in studying has been decreased due to covid-19 pandemic lockdown. Some social media influencer is now telling students education is a waste. The most common line among all is “Education is a waste, if education was useful then teacher will be richer. “Influencers often promote trends, products, or behaviors that children might feel pressured to follow. This can lead to unnecessary spending, adopting unhealthy habits, or participating in risky activities. They don’t even ask their parents about their activities, or take permission. They provoke children to get their attention on the basis of race, caste, gender, etc.. School children, who might lack the critical thinking skills to discern credible sources from social media influencer, can be particularly vulnerable to false information. This can shape their beliefs, decision-making, and understanding of the world in potentially harmful ways. These influencers change a child’s view towards world. Else how would a 12 years old boy would understand these race, caste, etc.. These influencers ask boys to be alone and tease girls or women. Ask them to stop caring about family and focus on identity or money. They provoke teenager to take any work but earn money whether activity is legal or not. They ask children to focus on activities like trading rather than academics, thinking academics as waste.Sometimes their words make children feel depressed when they hear something unreasonable. This depression can also in school where these influencer fans are in large no. Children may face negative comments, harassment, or exclusion online, about their family, name, caste, etc. which can significantly impact their mental health, social life. Some children might like these influencers might some not, but these small topics lead to conflict on these small topics. In the age where they should make friends; they are fighting on basis of caste, etc. Almost a week ago, a news item came out when a child wasted almost 8-10 lack rupees on trading and all the money was taken by the bank by his father as educational loan. You can now imagine that 10-20 minute video wasted his and his family’s life. In my class, I saw 5 students were fighting on the same topic. Their parents were called into school and you can imagine their parents’ plight in front of the teacher. So, due to these social media influencers not only children but also their parents have to face the problems. Now I would like to ask parents and children to stop these activities and focus on academics. Study and make your parents feel proud rather than making them embarrassed.
