Commendation Award in John Locke Global Essay Competition 2023

I participated in the John Lockee Global Essay competition 2023 and wrote an essay on “Plagiarism v/s ordinary theft. Becoming one of the only 16.9% of 35000 participants, I attended the award ceremony at Oxford and received the commendation award.

My mum left a note in my lunch, mentioning that I had received a mail about my essay being shortlisted, and I was invited to Oxford for an academic program. I was thrilled!
September 2023, I packed my bags and left for Oxford with my dad. I got an opportunity to attend the academic program there. Several Oxford professors shared some exclusive views about tech and law, along with emerging AI trends. The structure of each essay question was explained in length, and some well thought ideas were put together. I was intrigued to know that how many different dimensions could be given to an answer of one question. I also had an opportunity to attend a session by Jamie Whyte on “How to write an academic essay”. His learned and methodical way of essay writing was indeed an inspiration to start a writing forum of my own.
Apart from the academic program, I also enjoyed authentic English lunch ( amazing risotto and chocolate orange pie) at St. Hilda’s college, and made some friends there. The program was followed by a gala ceremony at the Ashmolean Museum.
